Coming Soon - Our Sedation Option Services Help Keep Anxious Spruce Grove Patients at Ease
If you experience mild to severe feelings of anxiety or fear when faced with an upcoming appointment at the dentist, you’re not alone. In fact, studies show that a majority of adults struggle with these emotions. The last thing we want at Spruce Ridge Dental is for our valued Westloc patients to feel uncomfortable. That’s why Our Dentists and the Devon dental team are happy to offer sedation dentistry to our patients from nearby St. Albert and other surrounding communities. Whether your dental phobia is mild or severe, sedation dentistry helps put those fears behind you and as we take care of your smile.
IV Sedation
Very few dental offices are able to offer IV sedation, but our Spruce Grove, Alberta team feels that it’s the best sedation option for patients who suffer from moderate to extreme dental anxiety. The sedative is administered through the vein allowing our Edmonton dental team to alter the amount received so patients are always comfortable. We also monitor blood pressure and heart rate so we know immediately if something goes wrong.
Before your procedure with IV sedation, we ask that you make sure not to eat or drink anything after midnight. While this treatment will not render you unconscious, many patients become so comfortable that they fall asleep. Following your procedure, a trusted friend or family member should take you home and keep an eye on you for the rest of the day. By the following morning, you should feel completely normal.
If your dental phobia isn’t severe enough to warrant IV sedation, nitrous oxide may be a better choice. This gas is administered through a nasal mask, and induces feelings of warmth and contentment. Many patients appreciate that the effect wears off within a few minutes allowing them to return to work or drive themselves home. Oral conscious sedation is also available, and this method creates similar effects to IV sedation using an oral medication. If you’re interested in sedation dentistry, please contact our office so we can help you determine which method is best for you.
